WCC Knockout and Knockout Plate Competitions

Members who wish to play graded games (ie. enter club competitions, or play in the Mid Sussex League), must additionally be members of the English Chess Federation (ECF).

Knockout:

Rate of play: 35 moves in 1 hour 15 minutes, then an extra 15 minutes to complete the game.

Other than the first round, when the player named first will have the white pieces, all subsequent rounds will involve pawn in hand to decide colours. The pairing fo the whole competition will be drawn out of the hat. Each round should be played by the date specified - failure to complete your game could result in a double default. A quickplay may be used as the deadline approaches or if the controller deems necessary.

In the event of a draw colours are reversed and the time limit remains the same. In the event of a further draw, 2 games should be played with 1/2 hour on each clock. If still unresolved then as many games as necessary with 5 minutes on the clock until a result is achieved.

All games will be graded.

Competitors losing in the first round may then enter the Knockout Plate.
