Worthing Chess Club Junior Championships - 16th April 2016

The 7th Worthing Junior Championships saw 39 players of all ages and at different stages of their chess journey come together for 7 rounds of blitz chess.  The tournament incorporated the Delancey UK Chess Challenge providing an opportunity for players to reach the Sussex Megafinal which is taking place on the 30th April.

As ever, the emphasis was on enjoyment and to provide a chance for many juniors to get used to playing with clocks. There was some terrific play, many games going down to the wire and the behaviour of the kids was outstanding.

Big thanks to Ken Haworth who gave up his Saturday afternoon to do the arbiting.

The players were all mixed in to 1 big tournament but prize allocation was based on 4 different groupings – congratulations to George Neale who retains his title of Worthing Junior Champion.
