Worthing Chess Club Simultaneous - 8th June 2015

Worthing Chess Clubs’ traditional end of season events kicked-off with a joint simultaneous by Chris Jones and Dave Graham. A bumper turnout of 30 players put immense pressure of the duo who faced a series of long and difficult games.

After suffering a couple of defeats last year, Chris and Dave managed to go through unbeaten this time but conceded many draws - congratulations to Dominic Miller, Lucas Clements, Cassie Graham, Alex Miller, Colin Parker and Kevin Walsh.

It was terrific to see the number of juniors turning out – big welcome to prospective new members Sam Cook and Isaac Cooper and their Dads! A brilliant tactic from 7 year old Timmy saw Chris and Dave go down a Knight very early but he was unable to hold on. Draws were conceded to Dominic, Cassie and Alex in murky positions to allow more focus on remaining games. George, Max, JuJu, Michael, Thomas and Alec Hedger played really well and were very unlucky to go down around the 3 hour mark with anxious parents worrying about bed times no doubt!

After 3 and a half hours of play a completely exhausted Chris and Dave played out the final moves and came away with 24 wins to complete a terrific evening, thank you to all who came along.
