Worthing Chess Club Junior Championships - 28th March 2015

The 6th Worthing Junior Championships saw a high turnout - 41 players of all ages and at different stages of their chess journey.  The tournament incorporated the Delancey UK Chess Challenge providing an opportunity for players to reach the Sussex MegaFinal which is taking place on the 2nd May.

With 7 rounds of 20 minute games the emphasis was on enjoyment and to provide a chance for many juniors to get used to playing with clocks. The play was of a high standard and the behaviour outstanding.

Big thanks to Chris Jones and Keith Homeyard who gave their Saturday afternoon to help with the arbiting. Thank you also to Rachel Reid and Karen Jones who helped with the ongoing tasks of refreshments and the UKCC prize allocation (gold spots, mascots, books, etc.).

The players were all mixed in to 1 big tournament but prize allocation was based on 5 different groupings – congratulations to George Neale who is the new Worthing Junior Champion, scoring a perfect 7/7 from his games.
