Worthing Chess Club Junior Championships - 5th April 2014

The 5th Worthing Junior Championships saw a fantastic turnout - 43 players of all ages and at different stages of their chess journey.  The tournament incorporated the Delancey UK Chess Challenge providing an opportunity for players to reach the Sussex Megafinal which is taking place on the 3rd May in Hassocks.

With 7 rounds of 20 minute games the emphasis was on enjoyment and to provide a chance for many juniors to get used to playing with clocks. The play was of a high standard and the behaviour of the players was outstanding.

Many thanks to Chris Jones who gave up his Saturday afternoon to help with the arbiting and to Cassie Graham who was in charge of results and pairing.

The competition was played as one big tournament but prize allocation was based on 4 different groupings – congratulations to Michael Banks who is the new Worthing Junior Champion.
